Prof. Dr. med. Alfred Mahr
Specialist Internal Medicine
Prof. Dr. med. Mahr joined The Kusnacht Practice in April 2023 as Specialist Internal Medicine.
Originally from Germany, Alfred spent his childhood in Germany and France. After completing high school in Germany, he trained as a medical doctor in France and received a degree as specialist in internal medicine at the University Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris in 1998.
In 2012, Alfred was appointed full Professor of internal medicine at the University Diderot in Paris. From 2010 to 2019, Alfred was chief of a division of internal medicine in a university hospital in the center of Paris. In 2019, he moved with his family to Switzerland to continue his medical career. He joined The Kusnacht Practice with its unique international environment in 2023.
Besides clinical care, Alfred devoted time to clinical and epidemiological research in the field of inflammatory illnesses. He received a master’s in public health in 2001 and a PhD degree in epidemiology in 2008. From 2005 to 2007, he spent protected research time at Boston University in the United States. Alfred authored and co-authored over 200 publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, and he served as editor for medical journals for several years.
Ever since Alfred started practicing internal medicine, he has been passionate about the combination of intellectual, intuitive and humanistic challenges of this profession. He feels very privileged to take care of other people’s health at a sensitive time.
Alfred is fluent in German, English and French.
